The Classic Cello with Chris Howlett

It is with great pleasure that I announce the first concert of 2017 in the Laussade Studio. Coming up quickly in March – a lovely recital with cellist Chris Howlett, known to me from his ANAM days where we first met and played together. Since then he has not only continued mastering his art, but is the curator for the annual 3MBS Marathon, the fifth of which took place this past weekend. Our program will feature the beloved Beethoven first Sonata in F Major, the exciting Mendelssohn Sonata in D Major, and in between the two masterpieces, a charming work by Onslow who was a contemporary of Mendelssohn’s, unknown to me until Chris introduced him to me! Please come enjoy a fabulous concert and join us for the party afterwards where we can share food and you can get to know Chris.

Venue: The Laussade Studio, 15 Greendale Road, Doncaster East, off the Eastern Freeway and Blackburn Road.

Matinee Musicale featuring Victoria Stanborough, Soprano

We’ve had quite a bit of excitement with international musicians in the Laussade Studio recently, and the upcoming concerts will be no exception!  You may remember American-born lyric coloratura soprano Victoria Stanborough from a concert she gave with me in the studio when I first moved into this location six years ago.  Lucky for us, she is back, and this time we will be sampling the repertoire and offering a range of styles. We be opening the program with French Art Song – Delibes and Hahn – and even one gorgeous selection by Franz Liszt, then moving to opera – with arias from Massenet’s Manon and Menotti’s famous “Monica’s Waltz.”  The second half will be loads of fun with Operetta and Musical Theatre numbers which you will all recognise and love!  Of course, I will be throwing in a couple piano solos – more favourites!   As always, there will be a fabulous party afterwards to which you are invited.  Please come and share great music and food in an intimate setting!
